Thomas B. Rogers has masters degrees in National Security and Strategic Studies, from the U.S. Naval War College, in Education Administration and Counseling at Boston University, and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History at California State University, Long Beach. His research interests continue to be International Politics with a specific focus on Military History.
Throughout his professional career, Tom was associated with the United States Army, where he was on military active duty for three years in Vietnam and Germany. As an Army civilian, he served a total of thirty-three years for the Department of the Army, on military posts in the United States, Germany, and Belgium.
His path to writing “Limited War,” associated articles, and university papers, began during his undergraduate research of both the French-Indochina and subsequent Vietnam Wars. After two years, he volunteered for military service, and his knowledge continued to mature during his one-year assignment at the Headquarters, Military Assistance Command-Vietnam (HQ MAC-V) in Saigon. Because of his opportunities to attend various senior-level meetings at the headquarters, he began to develop a high-level understanding of military war strategy, and the sociology of military soldiers and their families in the face of long-term, far-away wars.
Near the end of his Army Civilian career, he worked closely with several four-star and below general officers, and general-officer, equivalent civilian directors, on multiple programs to improve military life for soldiers and their families. Largely due to the successes of these efforts, and his ability to work on high-level programming, he was nominated by his senior civilian director to attend the Naval War College.
Tom has no doubt that the readers of “Limited War” will clearly see the impact of his thirty-six years of experience and understanding of military strategy, army family life, and the efforts to defend this nation and its allies, all reflected within the pages of “Limited War”.
